American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education (AFPE) is pleased to share this announcement about the launch of a unique career exploration project created collaboratively by AACP, the American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education (AFPE), and the American Pharmacist Association (APhA). The Pharmacy Opportunities Network (PharmON) is a career center that exclusively allows host organizations to promote awareness of various kinds with learning opportunities, such as internships, fellowships, short term experiential learning openings, and longitudinal career development programs, directly to the nation’s PharmD, Masters, and PhD students, as well as residents and fellows. Pharmacists that are currently in practice but interested in learning about alternative careers will also be encouraged to visit the PharmON repository of opportunities. The sponsoring organizations envision that these opportunities can be offered throughout the year and can be paid or unpaid experiences.

Please note that we recognize that the system is arriving late for Summer 2022 experiences so we will begin advertising opportunities to the prospective interns/learners in August.

Thanks in advance for helping us spread the word about this new career development resource!

Ellen Woods, President, AFPE

Lucinda Maine, Executive Vice President and CEO, AACP

Keith Marciniak, Vice President, Member Relations, APhA

Who can benefit from PharmON and how can I gain access to this website?

PharmON is a national career center where a diverse array of corporations, associations and other entities can post experiential learning opportunities, such as internships or jobs, to thousands of current Pharm.D. students, residents, fellows, graduate students and practicing pharmacists.

The length of each experience is up to the host entity and, while many internships are traditionally available for 10 to 12 weeks in the May to August timeframe, the co-sponsoring organizations encourage host companies to think about flexible experiential learning opportunities. The can take place on site or remotely and can occur all year.
