APhA is providing funding for a Fellowship research project to examine factors that support provision of safe patient care in the community pharmacy setting. This could be related to activities involving dispensing, immunization, provision of medication management, incorporation of test-to-treat, and other full-scope services as allowed by state law. The research could, among other things, examine time and motion of tasks, identify factors that predict appropriate staffing models for specific clinical care services or dispensing, including pharmacy technicians, assess risk mitigation factors associated with a clinical care service, or identify specific technologies.  The research should recommend or identify measures for pharmacies that supports patient safety and pharmacists having sufficient time to optimally care for patients beyond dispensing.
